The Former UWA Athletes group (FUWAA) was formed in 1998 to provide a forum for former UWA athletes to get together on social occasions and to foster links with the current club.

In 1998, 2003 and 2008 FUWAA assisted UWAAC to hold dinners to commemorate the 70th, 75th and 80th  anniversaries of the foundation of the club in 1928.

In 2008 it provided funding for athletics scholarships to Emily Longo and Ben Green.

In the first half of 2009 with, the assistance of the UWA Office of Development, it was responsible for setting up a Friends of UWA Athletics, whereby former athletes and friends can make tax deductible gifts to a fund under the auspices  of the UWA Hackett Foundation. This fund may be used in part to finance scholarships and grants to students who are competing members of the UWAAC. Assistance to support the activities of the UWAAC will also be considered.  Another objective is to support the recording and maintenance of the history of the club.
