Blues are considered the highest honor universities can bestow upon outstanding student athletes for not only their athletic abilities, but also their contributions to the university and their respective clubs throughout the year.
UWA Blues are one of UWA's oldest and most prestigious traditions, awarded by the UWA Sports Council to UWA student athletes since 1921, including many notable Australian sportspeople.
May be awarded to a currently enrolled UWA Student provided they have achieved outstanding success as a competitor and have shown service to their UWA Affiliate Sport Club. The standard of merit will be based upon the criteria listed and at the discretion of the Awards Committee.
·Olympic Team selection and representation.
·Commonwealth Games selection and representation.
·National Team selection and representation at the Open Level.
·World University Games selection and representation.
·Recognised outstanding performance at UniSport Australia competitions or sanctioned events
·Is able to demonstrate outstanding and/ or extraordinary achievements in their chosen sport or recreation discipline at Open or Age Group level
Half Blues
May be awarded to a currently enrolled UWA Student provided they have met their UWA Affiliate Sport Club minimum standard criteria and have shown service to their UWA Affiliate Sport Club. The applicable standard of merit will be based upon the criteria listed and applied at the discretion of the Sports Awards Committee.
·Individual or team medallist at the UniSport Australia Nationals Division One Competition or sanctioned events or State Championships/ Season (compete in a minimum of 75% of games for team medalist).
·Selection to a State open or age group team for a national championship, league or tournament.
·State representation at Junior or Over Age levels.
·Is able to demonstrate distinctive achievements in their chosen sport or recreation discipline
